The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Agency Engr. Kabir Abdullahi, met with the bank representatives on Monday 12th October, 2009.The meeting was held at the agency’s headquarters. It was to inform banks of the commencement of road maintenance works with the award of contracts to different contractors.

Essentially, the banks were implored to help facilitate the availability of bank loans at affordable interest rates, to contractors who approach them for this reason.He noted that the move will help the contractors to execute the contracts within the stipulated deadlines in the interest of all concerned, especially citizens of the country who travel on these roads.

The MD/CEO explained that in line with the Agency’s operational guidelines and policy, it does not pay contractors mobilization fees, but that the banks can be assured of the Agency’s capability of prompt payment to the contractors, once works have been concluded.

There was a question and answer session afterwards for clarification purposes.Engr. Abdullahi reiterated the importance the Agency places on engaging with relevant stakeholders, in realising its aims and objectives.
